Susan's sketchbook log: Arizona

Adobe Mission, Old Scottsdale

In the Valley of the Sun

One of the places to wander around is old town Scottsdale. The adobe mission was the oldest structure I found in old town and it was a cool thing to sketch.

Mostly I enjoyed being out in the desert under blue skies, which became more and more decadent as I heard that it was snowing something fierce back in Seattle.

I especially like the bunny ears cactus. At the Education Center at South Mountain, we make merciless fun of my sister-in-law Becky when she gets so caught up in them that she also touches a prickly pear, which is much less cute.
