Menton deserves a mention

I'm not sure why "The Pearl of France" gets such short shrift in all the guide books. With its wildly colorful old town in narrow tangled passageways, I think it's one of the highlights of the coast.

My visit coincided with Menton's Fête du Citron: lemons, lemons everywhere. Tried a lemon-infused olive oil that was really nice, but TSA regs now pretty much preclude that kind of purchase. But of course I still got to have a lemon tart for dessert at the Brasserie du Cap.
