I've mentioned that the one euro bus is the best deal around. The second best deal is that all the museums in Nice except the Chagall are free. After reading the blurb I read about what was showing at the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MAMAC), I probably would have given it a miss but it WAS free and only a few blocks from the apartment, so what the hey.

I almost didn't make it past the gigantic shiny pepto bismol pink centaur at the entrance, but eventually found some pretty cool work. The sketch at left was part of a work -- there were actually about 42 of these old coffee grinders in a kind of box-- that really DID look like "Grandmother's Village."

That being said, nothing blew me away more than the view of the old town from the roof-top terrace (below).
